Well, I'm some random 15 year old lass who's had an obsession with all things avian since the age of eight. XD
Dream career is to be an ornithologist, I've done work at zoos, I've done bird-banding (or ringing, I don't know if you say it the British way in Australia o_O), and I do volunteer work for the natural history museum here.
I have 24 pets, 16 of which are psittacines! 13 Budgies, 2 Peach-faced Lovebirds, and a Moluccan Cockatoo. <3
Cielo (pronounced like Che-loh, y'know, like a cello? XD) is the Moluccan Cockatoo and my sweetheart. <3
My Maroon-bellied Conure, Ginny, sadly passed away last February. I was quite attached to her, still visit her grave every single day.
Anyway, that is a summary of me! I've noticed all the best bird forums seem to be Australian. N-no fair! XD Anyway, that's why I made a forum of my own, but it's for all birds, not just companions. >_o

Welcome Parula. You certainly sound like you have a good head on your shoulders. Ornithology is a good line to get into, are you going to study birds exclusively or are you going to go into ecology, genetics (good sideline with ornithology), wildlife biology or something as interesting? Bird banding, ringing, I doubt it matters different avi's call it either or. Your volunteer work must be exciting! Do you have a favourite piece? I enjoy cockatoo's, one of the true parrot species of the world and a joy to watch. I have noticed alot of pretty good forums are Australian based, there are also some very good US & UK ones as well. Main problem I've found though is with 1 species specific boards it gets uninteresting after awhile as all you see is the 1 species. The more interesting overseas boards are not usually well visited - you get the occasional visitor but not enough to keep it flowing. Bird Board seemed a rather nice one with fairly knowledgeable people.

G'day Parula! Moluccan Cockatoo! Wow that's great, I've never seen one of those before. I know someone with a red tailed black cockatoo and she's a beauty! What's an ornithologist? Is it something to do with birds? Looking forward to learning more from you.
